‘This is Me’ brings a wide variety of characters to the stage, all with a powerful story to tell. Put them all together, and the audience is in for a unique theatrical experience. (Note adult themes/language – it is not suitable for children.)
‘This is Me’ began with the title ‘The Sisterhood’ which was staged at Nambucca Heads RSL Club in March to raise funds for those facing the consequences of Domestic Violence. Around 180 people queued at the auditorium’s entrance.
The audience loved ‘The Sisterhood’. We then took it on tour under the title ‘This is Me’. The reason for changing the title? We didn’t want people thinking that all subsequent shows were raising money for a cause. We took ‘This is Me’ to Warrell Creek Hall, Argents Hill Hall, Talarm Hall and to the studio space in Bellingen’s Memorial Hall, where we played to a full house.
From the Nambucca Valley we travelled to Kempsey’s Bandbox Theatre and the audience LOVED us. These are some comments from Facebook: Andrew: Was great fantastic show loved it from start to finish. Julie: It was a great performance and so well attended. What a brilliant idea inviting a group from another area to use the wonderful Bandbox Theatre! The Macleay Valley Theatre Company: A very excellent roll up of patrons packed the Bandbox & thoroughly enjoyed the performance presented by the visiting group. The performance was extremely well presented and each of the performers displayed an exceptional, well polished & professional like performance. A hearty “Well Done” goes out to the Wyz Wimmin & Friends Theatre Company. Lots of positive comments & feedback from those who attended. The MVTC committee will definitely be open to inviting the group back again to once again. perform on the well worn stage of the Iconic Bandbox Theatre. For those who didn’t attend….. You missed a treat.
