Warners Bay

Seven of us arrived at Warners Bay on Friday afternoon and that evening Helen did a run through so the lights could be sorted and everything put in place for her performance the next afternoon. Helen’s performance was amazing and the audience loved her. At the end of the Festival, Helen received a special mention from the judges and she so richly deserved it.

The photo shows Helen in costume with her magnificent spectacle frame (Thank you Eyecare Plus in Nambucca Heads). The other photo is of our little group outside the theatre at the end of the Festival.

Lake Macquarie Festival

We are presenting ‘Marley & Mars Bars’ at the Lake Macquarie One-act Play Festival this weekend and boy, are we excited. With Helen Kirkpatrick as Marley, I reckon we are going to knock ’em dead! It is enormously satisfying for me as a playwright to write with a particular actor in mind. As words appear … Read more

‘The Sisterhood’ and ‘This is Me’

These two productions feature the same collection of monologues, and we consider them our most powerful scripts to date. We began at Nambucca Heads RSL Club, then travelled to three of the Nambucca Valley’s historic country halls and finished … Read more

Postponed

We very much regret that because of the cyclone, ‘The Sisterhood’ has been postponed until 15th March. Same time, same place, same program. Apart from people not wanting to travel under current conditions, let alone battling flooding, Nambucca Heads RSL is an evacuation centre, so it was a no brainer to postpone the performance.

All you need to know about ‘This is Me’

When we began the Wyz Wimmin, we were committed to taking theatre to the people and the best way for us to do that was to perform in the area’s historic halls. Back when they were built, sopranos would travel country roads to sing operas, Shakespearean actors would perform soliloquies, and travelling picture shows would … Read more

Australia Day Award

As the Wyz Wimmin’s Producer I was given the Nambucca Valley Australia Day ‘Cultural Award’ but this really belongs to the whole company. The ceremony included welcoming new Australian citizens and one of the dignitaries spoke about our strength as a nation when we come together in all our diversity. As a theatre company we … Read more

As from next year, audiences will be able to book tickets to our shows via a Humanitix app on this website, which will make booking simpler while still contributing to Humanitix’s charity donations. Yay!
