When we began the Wyz Wimmin, we were committed to taking theatre to the people and the best way for us to do that was to perform in the area’s historic halls. Back when they were built, sopranos would travel country roads to sing operas, Shakespearean actors would perform soliloquies, and travelling picture shows would present silent movies. Here we are, a hundred or more years later, treading in their footsteps (and we think that’s wonderful).
We have performed at Talarm in the past. This time around, we are excited to add Warrell Creek Hall, Argents Hill Hall and Bellingen’s Memorial Hall to our tour of the latest production, ‘This is Me’.
At Talarm and Argents Hill the good cooks who live out that way will be providing a spread during interval.
At Warrell Creek, we’ll be supplying champagne on arrival, or orange juice if you prefer, and we will be performing without an interval (around an hour-and-a-quarter performance time). You can linger afterwards if you like and we will pour you another champers and you can chat with us about our productions. It will be our first time at the Mem Hall and we’ll be serving champers and orange juice there as well. We’ll be in the studio space, rather than the main hall.
Seating is limited in all four halls, so you really should purchase your tickets online earlier rather than later. IF there are tickets left, they will be available at the door but please note that we do not have EFTPOS, so they would be cash sales only. (Please also note that we do not put tickets aside for payment at the door.)
‘This is Me’ is a collection of powerful monologues with subjects that range from Council Bulky Goods Collection, to small town gossip, to being too fond of a certain type of chocolate: there really is something for everyone. (The photos show some of our characters in rehearsal.)
Go to the ‘This is Me’ ticket page to book your seats. All performances are at 2.00 pm. Dates are: Warrell Creek Hall Saturday 22 March, Argents Hill Hall Sunday 23 March, Talarm Hall Saturday 29 March, Bellingen Memorial Hall (studio) 30 March. Tickets are $25 plus a small booking fee.
‘This is Me’ follows on from ‘The Sisterhood’ and the program will be basically the same, but because not all actors are available for all performances, some of the monologues may vary.
